Local Business Shoutout: MIROUR SG

When I first met Juli, both of us were doing something completely different than what we are doing now. I think it was roughly about 10 years ago. So within that span of 10 years, I watched from the sidelines, how she build her business from a small booth to having her own retail space now.

Hey Juli, do spill a little about yourself and MIROUR SG!

Hi! I’m Juli and I’m a Mompreneur! Prior to business, I was doing Finance in the corporate scene. Switched to being a full time Mompreneur so as to have the luxury of time generating income while watching my kids grow. They are now turning 12 years old and 9 years old respectively.

Started MIROUR SG when my firstborn was 4 years old back in 2016. MIROUR SG specializes in Magnetic Brooches and this idea came about when I wanted to hijrah; donning the hijab. Wasn’t an easy transition with pins. That’s when the idea of using Magnetic Brooch will be easier and faster for hijabis.

Why did you decide to start your business?

It was a choice to I had to make and I chose to be around my kids while they are growing up. It’s the FOMO, I wouldn’t want to miss their many firsts. On the other hand, I cannot see myself not working or earning my own keeps. So business it is! Own time own target!

What were the first few steps you have taken to get your business of the ground?

I wanted the business to represent me. I’m the face of my brand. I have to love what I sell and what I use. Sourcing, trying, testing the magnetic brooches and finding a reliable manufacturer was my focus. Went for a couple of courses to be familiar with online selling. Gathered as many feedbacks and pictures of customers using their magnetic brooches and used that to garner more interest and attention on social media.

How do you juggle the multiple roles you have daily?

Keep on moving. I have learnt to do what I can at any point in time. No point getting anxious over mountains of never ending to-do list. Better focus and happier!

What are your favourite moments of being a business owner?

When MIROUR SG was featured on national tv news. When customers shares and introduce MIROUR SG to their family and friends. When customers shared their genuine feedbacks and compliments about our product quality. When our muslim sisters shared how easy it was for them to don their hijab during their hijrah.

How do you maintain your passion and enthusiasm for your business over the years?

Customers. MIROUR SG participates in Pop-Up Events frequently. We go to different sides of Singapore to reach to our customers. With these Pop- Up Events, we are able to communicate face-to-face with our customers getting genuine feedbacks and their strong love and support for our products. That keeps us going and motivates us to do better year after year.

Share any tips and advices for an aspiring entrepreneurs out there.

Be genuine. Ignore external noise. Stay true to your intention. Be consistent. Love yourself and love what you do.

What is 2024 going to be like for MIROUR SG?

MIROUR SG has opened up our very first Retail Space over at Wood Square Tower 1. This 2024 we will be focusing on utilising the space to bring in more customers and working together with other brands to enhance our customers’ shopping experience.
