Assalamualaikum sis Lina, hope you are doing well! Share with us about yourself and your businesses, Lina MOS Pte Ltd and L.MOS Educentre Pte Ltd.

Assalamualaikum, I’m Lina, the founder of Lina MOS Pte Ltd and L.MOS Educentre Pte Ltd. I’m passionate about creating beautiful, safe fragrances and meaningful learning experiences, all rooted in love, faith, and intention. Inspired by my late father, everything I do is crafted with heart - to bring warmth, peace, and purpose to others.

Lina—that’s what my family and friends lovingly call me. Some just call me “Lina,” but the name Lina MOS holds something much deeper.

“MOS” is short for my beloved late father, Mohd Osman. He was a simple, kind-hearted man who found peace and joy in his visits to Masjid Sultan at Arab Street. That mosque became a place of beautiful memories for me, a place that reminds me of his quiet strength, his gentle spirit, and his unwavering faith.

When I started this journey, I wanted to carry a part of him with me. That’s why I chose the name Lina MOS—a name that keeps him close to my heart. With every good deed, every act of kindness, and every step I take in this path, I make a small prayer: “Ya Allah, please send the reward to my father.”

This is more than just a name. It’s a way for me to honour his memory, and to continue his legacy of love, faith, and sincerity in everything I do.

Can you describe the moment you decided to become a business owner?

The moment I decided to become a business owner was after my beloved father passed away. His passing made me reflect deeply on life, purpose, and what truly matters. That’s when I started my very first business—baking cakes and teaching pastry and hospitality in schools. It was a beautiful journey where I could share my passion and skills with others.

But as time went on, I felt a stronger pull in my heart—a need to slow down, reconnect with Allah, and realign my intentions. I realised I wanted to do something more meaningful, something that not only brings benefit to others but also becomes a continuous reward (pahala) for my late father.

So I stepped away from my first venture and started Lina MOS—a brand built on love, faith, and remembrance. The journey hasn’t been easy, with its share of struggles and uncertainties, but through every up and down, I hold on to my “why.” This isn’t just a business—it’s my way of honouring my father, staying close to Allah, and creating goodness that lasts.

What do you tell yourself in order to be motivated in doing business?

What keeps me motivated in doing business is constantly reminding myself why I started. I tell myself, “This is bigger than just profit—it’s about purpose.” Every step I take, I carry the intention to honour my late father and to seek Allah’s blessings in what I do.

On tough days, I remind myself that rizq (sustenance) comes from Allah, and as long as I do my part with sincerity, honesty, and effort, He will take care of the rest. I also think about the people I’m serving—how my products bring peace and joy into their homes. That alone keeps my heart going.

And most importantly, I remind myself that every challenge is a test, every small win is a blessing, and this journey is not just about business—it’s an act of ibadah when done with the right intention.

What is the routine you set fot yourself everyday?

I try to start each day with intention and balance. My daily routine begins with Fajr prayer and a few quiet moments of dua and reflection—it helps me ground myself and renew my purpose for the day. I remind myself to be grateful and ask Allah for guidance in everything I do.

After that, I plan my day, focusing on both personal and business tasks. Whether it’s creating fragrances, managing orders, or brainstorming ideas for Lina MOS and L.MOS Educentre, I try to approach everything with sincerity and heart.

I also make time to pause throughout the day—to check in with myself spiritually, reconnect with my intentions, and ensure I’m not just being busy, but purposeful. Ending the day with prayer and reflection helps me stay focused, grateful, and ready for whatever comes next.

What are some of the obstacles you faced while building your business?

Building my business has been a journey full of lessons, growth, and challenges. One of the biggest obstacles I faced was self-doubt—wondering if I was doing the right thing, especially when things didn’t go as planned. There were times when sales were slow, or I felt overwhelmed juggling everything on my own.

Financial struggles and managing time between work, family, and personal spiritual growth was also a big challenge. Sometimes I questioned if I should continue—but I always came back to my niyat (intention): to create something meaningful, to honour my late father, and to seek Allah’s blessings in what I do.

There were also technical and business challenges—like marketing, logistics, and learning how to grow a brand from scratch. But every obstacle has been a reminder to trust the process, rely on Allah, and stay committed to my purpose.

What are the most rewarding aspects of being a business owner?

One of the most rewarding parts of being a business owner is seeing how something I created with love and intention can bring comfort and joy into someone’s life. When a customer tells me that my fragrance makes their home feel calm, warm, or even reminds them of a special moment—that means everything to me.

Even though my late father wasn’t in the fragrance business—he sold satay and worked hard to support us—he loved beautiful scents and always made sure our home smelled nice. So in a way, this journey reminds me of him and allows me to do something that keeps his memory close to my heart.

Being able to build something meaningful, with sincerity and purpose, while staying true to who I am—that’s the greatest reward of all.

Who are your role models?

My biggest role model is Prophet Muhammad (SAW) and his wife Siti Khadijah. His character, patience, and sincerity in everything he did is something I always try to reflect in my own life and business. He taught us the value of honesty, compassion, and doing everything with pure intention—and that’s what I strive for every day.

Another role model is my late father. He was a hardworking, humble man who provided for us with love and dedication. Even though he ran a satay business, he always made sure our home was filled with warmth—and beautiful fragrance. His strength, kindness, and love for simple things left a big impact on me.

I also admire strong, faith-driven women who run their businesses with heart, purpose, and resilience. Seeing them balance their deen, family, and dreams reminds me that it's possible to build something meaningful without losing who you are.

What tools, systems, books or resources would you recommend for all business owners?

I always believe the best tool is starting with a clear and sincere niyat. When your intention is right, everything else follows.

For practical tools, I use Canva for design, Google Workspace for planning, and simple accounting apps like Xero. One book I recommend is “Start With Why” by Simon Sinek—it helps you stay connected to your purpose. Spiritually, “Reclaim Your Heart” by Yasmin Mogahed has really helped me stay grounded during tough times. Never forget Al-Quran too.

Most importantly, surround yourself with positive people—and distance yourself from negative energy. It makes all the difference.

How do you find inspiration and creativity for your business ideas?

I find inspiration and creativity through everyday moments—quiet reflection after prayer, walking through nature, or even the scents and memories from my childhood. Sometimes, a simple smell can spark a whole new idea for a fragrance.

I also draw inspiration from my customers—their stories, their feedback, and how my products make them feel. It reminds me why I started and gives me fresh ideas on how to serve them better.

Most importantly, I make time to pause, reconnect with my niyat, and talk to Allah to guide my heart and ideas. When you create with intention and from a place of sincerity, inspiration flows naturally.

What advice will you give to aspiring business owners?

My advice to aspiring business owners is: start with intention. Know your why, and make sure it aligns with your values and purpose. Don’t chase success just for the sake of it—build something meaningful, and let barakah follow.

Be patient with the process. Business has its ups and downs, but every struggle is a lesson, and every small step forward counts. Stay consistent, stay humble, and never stop learning.

Along the way, people may fitnah you, look down on you, leave you alone struggle, even family member, and even make you cry. But don’t let that break you. Keep going, hold your head high, and trust Allah plan. What’s meant for you will never miss you—and what’s not meant for you will never reach you.

Do your best, make dua, and leave the rest to Him. With sincere effort and faith, you’ll go further than you ever imagined.

What is the future going to be like for you and your businesses?

In sha Allah, the future for me and my businesses is focused and purpose-driven. I’ve stepped away from booths for now to fully concentrate on growing "Our Space" at Primz Bizhub that share together with my friend as one Team —a space where I can serve customers more consistently and professionally. It’s also a place where I plan to hold more classes and workshops, sharing knowledge and empowering others through skills and heartfelt guidance.

My goal is to create a hub that brings people together—whether through learning, creativity, or community. As always, I pray everything I do continues to bring benefit, carries barakah, and stays true to my intentions.
