UNPREDICTABLE.
A word to describe 2020.
In a matter of mere days, our world changed so drastically. Whatever we had planned for 2020 no longer mattered. We had to figure our days as they come.
I watched everyone around me struggle to adapt to the new normal. I saw family and friends faced uncertainties in their lives. Jobs are lost and families being torn apart. It was hard for everyone. But in our struggles, my perspectives changed and I learnt a lot.
There Are Things Beyond Our Control
As much as we think we are prepared for everything, as much as we planned every second of our lives, sometimes nothing will go the way we want or expect them to. There are things that are just simply beyond our control. And what we can do is try to adapt and survive the best way we can.
Mental Health Is Important Too
Staying at home and being separated from family and friends can be quite daunting. Especially for long periods of time. I am more than glad to stay at home and do my part for the community. But after staying at home for a few weeks, I can feel my mental health deteriorating. To keep myself in check, I made sure to stay active and be in constant connection with my loved ones virtually.
Superheroes Don't Wear Capes
The real superheroes of 2020 are not the Avengers. Not even the Justice Leagues. The real superheroes are the frontliners. The doctors, nurses and everyone working in the hospitals. The people who are working in supermarkets. The deliverymen and women. The teachers and educators everywhere. I can't imagine a world without them. They have been working hard to get us through this pandemic and we can never thank them enough.
The Need To Always Be Grateful
Yes, 2020 is a tough year.
Yes, I wish I could restart 2020.
But the fact is we cannot rewind time. We can only move forward. And to move forward, we have to focus on the positives. Let's count all the blessings that we have. And try our best to be in a constant state of gratitude.
These are some of the lessons I learnt in 2020. What did you learn from 2020? Do share with me if you can. We love to hear from you.
And we wish you a very HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!
