Local Business Shoutout: Nuffypuffy and Naffy Bakes

I met Nafisah, owner of Nuffypuffy and Naffy Bakes a few years ago at Etsy Craftivist SG event. With her bubbly personality and gorgeous smile, I was not only attracted to the beautiful products she creates but also her personality!

That's why when I decided to do my local business shoutout post, the first person I thought of was Nafisah. I was very grateful when she agreed to do this mini interview! Read on to hear more about this talented lady.

Nafisah, share a little about yourself, Nuffypuffy and Naffy Bakes.

I was an animator for 4 years and then I realized I don't like to be glued to the chair. I tried teaching and I loved it. I have been teaching for 6 years and counting.

Nuffypuffy started in 2017, selling greeting cards. Then I had a cat that I loved passed away at only 9 months in 2020. I drew cats to cope with my grief. It kinda just became something I love to do. It has evolved into tons of stickers, washi tapes, workshops and more!

Naffy Bakes started in 2019. I like to bake for fun and my husband said that I should try to sell it. I'm happy to say, I've been getting a lot of returning customers. From brownies, cookies and also Hari Raya favourites Tapak Kuda. Maybe there will be more in the future. 🙂

How do you balance your personal life with the demands of business?

I just got a baby girl on 16 Feb 2023 and it has been quite a challenge. I had a really bad art block for 6 months and it took me some time to realize that I can't do my business during the day. I would put my time into my businesses during weekday nights and weekends will be my off day.

What are the most rewarding aspects of being a business owner?

People who come back for more. Especially when I have pop-ups, I'm really good at remembering faces. If I see them coming back, I would be the happiest person alive!

How do you maintain your passion and enthusiasm for your business over the years?

I honestly don't know. I just keep on going. It's like if I stop, I don't know what to do anymore. I guess having my business is my happy place.

What advice will you give to aspiring business owners?

Never stop learning from your mistakes and always upgrade yourself. Oh and MAKE FRIENDS! Especially when you do pop-ups.

What is 2024 going to be like for you and your businesses?

More pop-ups and classes. I'm working on more new items. Hopefully to be released by June during my Cat Expo pop up. We shall seeeeeee.

Thank you Nafisah for this interview and Congratulations to you and hubby on your new addition. Do follow her at Nuffypuffy and Naffy Bakes!
