1QAD: What quality do you admire most in others?

Recently, I met someone who is so incredibly selfless. There are so many people in my life that are kind and generous. But this lady is on a totally different level.

She is a volunteer with a non-profit organisation that serves the underpriviledged families. She got connected with me to engage me for a tutoring job. A child from one of the families she is tasked to care for needs help with her major exams.

Now she didn’t have to do that. She was given the task to care for the family only a few months prior. So by the time she wanted a tutor for the child, it was only a mere few weeks before the exams. There is only so much you can do for a child during that short time. Yet despite that, she still wanted to get a tutor for that child. She was even willing to pay out of her own pocket for the service.

From there, I understood. It wasn’t about studying. She wanted the child to have support and attention during this trying period. To show that no matter what the child is going through, there is someone who cares about her and her education.

During the short period I was with her and the family, I saw how kind and wonderful she is. In the little things she does. I was in awe of her.

She has so much love and she is not afraid to share it. I wish more people knew what amazing things she has done. But she keeps it private. And that is what I admire most in other people. I admire those people who are genuinely kind in their own quiet way.
